"Air to Air" in LAX - Los Angeles Int. Airport 2016

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is one of the largest international airports in the United States and it is the seventh busiest airport in the world. 2015, LAX handled over 70 Million passengers. The Airport has four east-west parallel runways with over 650,000 aircraft movements.The nine terminals, west remote gates, and on-the-airfield airline commuter gates total nearly 145 aircraft parking spots. Many of the world’s large airlines fly to this airport, arriving in waves from Europe or Asia. LAX serves as well as a hub for many US Airlines, the most prominent are. Among Spotters LAX is very popular. There are some nice places to watch planes and take photos. The best known spot is a little hill on Imperial Avenue. Situated on the southside of the airfield and therefore ideal for the sun, it has a good view of the southern side of the airport and the southern two runways. An other famous spot is the In-N-Out Burger restaurant on Sepulveda Blvd. The location of the restaurant is directly underneath the approach path and the heavies pass just a few hundred feet over the top of you. As I prefer it in switzerland, my favorite photospots are above an airport. There are no high mountains around LAX like in Meiringen AFB, but in Summer 2016 I had the opportunity to take photos out of a helicopter Robinson R-22 and I could extend my portfolio of aviation photos with some unique shot.

Der Flughafen hat 9 Terminals und bietet für 145 Flugzeuge Parking-Slots. Praktisch alle grossen internationalen Airlines fliegen von und nach Los Angeles und der Flughafen dient auch vielen nationalen US Airlines als Drehkreuz: Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and Virgin America. Unter Flugzeugspottern ist LAX sehr populär. Es gibt zahlreiche gute Plätze zum Fotografieren. Einer der besten Spots ist ein kleiner Hügel im Süden des Flughafens an der Imperial Avenue. Ebenfalls sehr bekannt und beliebt ist das Fastfood-Restaurant " am Sepulveda Boulevard. Dieses Restaurant liegt direkt in der Abflugschneise.
